Editorial and corrections policy

Last updated Oct 30, 2026

These are the rules every HostCalmly page follows. If a page breaks one, tell us and we'll fix it.

Who's responsible for pages

The name of the person or company that runs HostCalmly will appear here before launch.

Every content page shows when its sources were last checked, or when it was last updated, and has a “Report an error” link under its title.

What we cover and why

We cover the questions independent hosts ask most, chosen because hosts need the answer, never because a company pays for coverage. Every answer starts with the short answer, shows the math and ends in a tool that applies it to your rental.

Sources

  • Facts come from primary sources: the vendor's pricing page or help center, the platform's help articles and the retailer's product page.
  • We link the source next to the fact, with the date we read it.
  • We don't copy vendor or retailer descriptions. Summaries, pros and limitations are written for this site.
  • When two official sources disagree, we mark the fact Unknown and say why.

How we use AI

We use AI tools to help research and draft pages. Every fact, price and policy statement links to the official page it came from, and was checked against that page on the date shown.

Rankings and recommendations come from fixed rules, described on How we check and recommend, not from an AI model's judgment. Some illustrations on the site are AI-generated. They're decorative and never stand in for a real product.

Independence

  • No company pays for placement, a better review or a spot in a ranking.
  • Companies don't see pages before we publish them.
  • We don't accept free products or trips in exchange for coverage.
  • Partner links, where they exist, are labeled “Paid link” on the page and listed on How we make money.

Keeping pages current

  • Each page shows its own Checked or Updated date. On software, comparison and picks pages, Checked is the oldest date among the facts or prices shown.
  • “Updated” changes only when the content changes in a way that matters to you. We never change a date to make a page look fresh.

Corrections

If you find a wrong fact, an outdated price or a broken link, email hostcalmly@gmail.com. Include the page address and, if you can, the source that shows the right answer. “Report an error” under the title of each content page fills this in for you.

What happens next:

  • If we were wrong, we fix the page and note the correction with its date.
  • Small fixes that don't change meaning, such as typos, aren't noted.
  • Fact changes also go on the list of recent fact changes.
  • If we checked and the page is right, we tell you why.

Feedback from companies

Vendors can point out an error the same way. We change a fact only when an official, public source supports the change, and we date the change.
